Pay: $8.00/hour
Hours: 15–20 hours per week (flexible around class schedule)
Office Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Tarleton State University - Stephenville Campus - Thompson Student Center, Suite 21
Position Overview
The Student Career Coach serves as a peer leader within Career Services, supporting fellow students and alumni in career exploration, professional development, and meaningful connections to opportunity. As part of a growing and highly visible team, this role plays a key part in expanding access to career resources and helping develop career-ready Texans.
Student Career Coaches are trusted representatives of Career Services and contribute directly to the success of campus-wide initiatives, employer engagement, and student career readiness.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one career coaching to students and alumni, including resume reviews, mock interviews, and job search guidance
- Support students in career exploration, including interpretation and use of Focus2Career assessments
- Deliver presentations to classes, student organizations, and campus partners
- Support high-impact career events and employer engagement initiatives
- Empower students to independently navigate their career development and job search process
- Track and report student engagement and program data to support continuous improvement
- Communicate professionally with students, alumni, faculty, staff, and employers via email, phone, and virtual platforms
- Provide occasional front desk support, including greeting visitors and responding to inquiries
- Participate in regular team meetings, training, and performance evaluations
- Assist with additional projects and initiatives as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Tarleton State University student in good academic standing
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Confidence in public speaking and presenting to groups
- Demonstrated professionalism and ability to represent the university positively
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service
Additional Expectations
- Availability for occasional evening or weekend events, including orientations, presentations, and Texan Tour
- Consistent communication with supervisors and team members using platforms such as Microsoft Teams and email
- Successful completion of training and annual performance review for continued employment
